Bryan's 1988 Chevrolet C1500 Stepside

There's something about tucking 26's under the wheel arches of a stepside pickup truck that really makes us fall in love with these trucks.

This 88' came to us in almost completely stock form and was begging for some love.  First thing we started with was removing the rear end.  We removed the leaf springs, struts, drum brakes, and then removed the old mounting points for all of the factory suspension components so the frame rails are clean and ready for the monster notch.
After we finished stripping down the remaining suspension components we went to work with the monster notch installation.
It was necessary for us to narrow the axle housing to bring the inside of the wheels in closer to the frame rail for them to fit.
To hold the narrowed axle housing in place we used our handmade 3 link arms which allows us to keep the gas tank in its factory position.
With the handmade 3 link installed we installed coilovers to allow ride height adjustability while also helping keep any unwanted suspension travel to a minimum.
With the suspension finished we moved to modifying the bed, installing the wheel tubs and fabricating a unique hidden battery box so it doesn’t draw any attention away from the custom suspension setup.
With the added clearance from the wheel tubs we were able to have the wheels fitting nice and snug making full use of those beautiful wheel arches that the stepside bed accentuates.
